Department of Applied Finance & Actuarial Studies
Located in a stunning natural park and within the high-technology corridor of Sydney’s north-west, Macquarie University is a modern, research-intensive institution serving the needs of both industry and the community.
The Faculty of Business and Economics is the University’s largest Faculty and one of the largest commerce faculties in Australia. The Faculty enrols over 15,000 students in postgraduate and undergraduate courses and delivers well on its mission to improve its reputation, relevance and resilience.
The Faculty is looking for a Professor and Head of Department for the recently established Department of Applied Finance & Actuarial Studies. The Department provides internationally recognised and accredited undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as the Master of Applied Finance, recognised as the largest and most successful applied finance postgraduate degree in the world.
The successful applicant will provide academic leadership ensuring effective resourcing for teaching, research and industry engagement.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience at a senior level in industry or academia and will be qualified to assume a full Professorial position with a strong record of personal achievement in industry, teaching and applied research. They will be highly regarded with excellent communication and leadership skills. Their established network and collaborative practices will ensure links with industry are continually developed and strengthened to extend the Faculty’s reputation.
This is a continuing Professorial role and a 3 year fixed-term Head of Department appointment, with the option to reapply for a further term. A competitive salary package will be negotiated.
