Workforce Development Experts, Afghanistan

Proposal Summary: 
The Women in Transition (WIT) IQC will invest in opportunities that enable educated women to enter and advance into decision-making positions in Afghanistan’s public, private and civil society sectors. For young women with at least a high school education, WIT will provide access to advanced professional development opportunities through four specific practice areas under the WIT umbrella: 1) Women in the Economy, 2) Women’s Rights Groups and Coalitions, 3) Women in Government, and 4) Women’s Leadership Development. 

Position Summary:
MSI seeks Workforce Development Experts to lead skill development and workforce placement activities in Afghanistan. Task Orders under the WIT IQC may focus on developing government internship programs, leadership and career skills trainings for women in the public and private sectors, and business development support centers for women. Implementation is expected to begin no later than August, 2013. 

Responsibilities:

• Designing and implementing market-driven workforce development and technical vocational education and training (TVET) program initiatives 
• Designing curriculum and training of SME business start-up and SME business expansion courses, such as business plan development, marketing, accounting, access to finance, etc.
• Designing curriculum and training of leadership courses, such as critical thinking, presentation skills, negotiation, supervision, etc. 
• Designing and implementing internship programs for public and private sectors
• Working with government human resource departments to design career paths

Qualifications:

• At least five years of experience designing and implementing workforce development and TVET initiatives in environments comparable to Afghanistan, particularly on programs with a specific gender focus 
• Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
• Understanding of and prior experience in Afghanistan desirable
• Advanced degree in a relevant field strongly preferred
