BG Advance encompasses the following key areas: Exploration, Petroleum Engineering and Developments, Engineering Projects, Operations and Well Engineering, Commercial and Assurance, Strategy and Portfolio Development, IT & Technology and HSSE. Coupled with the co-ordination and development of BG Group strategy and the longer-term planning and development of technical and commercial capabilities, BG Advance’s focus is on developing best practice and improved standards and capabilities.
Position Summary
The GTA is responsible for developing, implementing and advising the Company on Aviation Operations Standard, Guidelines, Practices, and Policies & Procedures in line with changes in best industry practice, which will define Company Group minimum aviation standards.

GTA is also responsible for initiating, developing and maintaining Company Group Technical Standards, Guidelines and Systems relating to, Fixed Wing and Rotary Aviation Operations, to ensure safe, efficient and cost effective operations within the Company Assets and Business Units worldwide.
Position will require international travel.
Key Accountabilities
  • The GTA will review and make recommendations to the COMPANY Global Logistics Manager Operations: based in the COMPANY head office following requests for Dispensations where COMPANY GROUP Aviation Standards cannot be met;
  • Advise the Company on aviation safety and operational policy. Review and make recommendations on the Company Aviation Standards, Guidelines and policies;
  • Maintain in conjunction with the Company Global Logistic Manager the Company Aviation Standards, Guidelines and Policies documentation and develop revisions as requested by Company;
  • Assist in the development of safety and operating standards / guidelines as appropriate;
  • As Demand Manager oversee the output and performance of the Group Aviation Inspection, Audit and Safety Consultancy;
Inspections, Assurance and Audit
  • Attend monthly meetings / discussions with the Company at its Head Office and, when sponsored by Assets, foreign offices, to agree, update and execute the safety inspection / audit plan;
    Interpret and disseminate the results of audits and investigations conducted by the inspection, auditing and safety consultancy;
  • Maintain and oversee a Group Aviation Audit Finding Tracking Database, and report any overdue action items to the Assets concerned;
  • The GTA will carry out Operational reviews in accordance with the requirements of the Group Value Assurance Framework;
Operational Data Collection and Reporting
  • Collect and interpret industry data on aviation operator’ performance measurement, i.e. accident / incident rates, delayed departures, time to mobilise replacement aircraft, etc. in a form approved by Company. Assist Company as directed in establishing performance monitoring methods and reports in Company operations;
  • The GTA will initiate, develop, maintain and monitor Aviation Operations Performance Benchmarking within Company Business Unit Functions. Compile annual Company and Industry aviation statistics reports and presentations as required 
  • The GTA will identify / collate and disseminate lessons learned and best practices.
Asset Operational Support and Training
  • The GTA as the Company technical / professional aviation expert will provide direct / indirect operational support as required by the Company business units worldwide, including design review of new Company operated helidecks (including Company shipping owned and chartered), airstrips and heliports
  • The GTA will be responsible for training, standardising and pre-approving all Company Group Aviation Operations Supervisors (AOS) and aviation consultant;
  • Establish and monitor the extent of group fixed wing & rotary wing aviation operations through the establishment of a network of AOS within the Company worldwide Assets and Business Units;
  • The GTA will be responsible for overseeing the initial training and competency of Company AOS
    The GTA will provide expert advice, guidance and assistance on aviation matters to Company regional business groups;
    • Assist in developing of a Regional Aviation practice
    • Conduct Peer Reviews and internal audits
    • Investigate aviation incidents and accidents
    • Induct regional teams in the Air Operations practice
    • Assist, as necessary, in the local aviation contracting strategy to ensure access to appropriate industry resources for both planned and emergency aviation, search and rescue, medical evacuation service providers
    • Provide advice on installation safety cases and support if being inspected by the local CAA
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
The GTA will have held as a minimum the following qualifications;
  • Air Transport Pilots Licence or equivalent
  • Licenced Air Engineering qualification 
  • Comprehensive experience in Oil and Gas Offshore and Onshore Aviation Operations at a senior management level
GTA should have experience of:
  • Air Operations /Air Engineering back ground preferred
  • Oil and Gas operations experience – Commercial Helicopter or in E&P Operations 
  • Ability to negotiate with Joint Venture Partners
  • Cultural sensitivity to local conditions
  • Ability to lead and work as a team as necessary
