BBC Sport England in Birmingham publishes content created by journalists in the regional centres and local radio stations across England and produces most of the match reports for England’s major domestic divisions in football, rugby and cricket.

Their multi-media output appears across many platforms including the BBC Sport and BBC Local News websites, mobile apps, DAB text and digital TV.

Role

You will be a sub-editor, checking and publishing the journalists’ work, managing the indexes and overseeing liaison with sports journalists around England.
In addition, you’ll deal with external feedback from users and construct appropriate responses to queries/complaints about material generated from around England.

Requirements

Some experience writing sport content for online platforms is essential as is a proven background in sports journalism.
You will also need an excellent understanding of both BBC Sport website and BBC English Regions operations.
In addition, you’ll have excellent writing and subbing skills, and have the ability to manage material and editorial input from other areas of the BBC.
Flair and imagination to craft original multi-media material with the ability to learn how to devise, build and maintain a structure for a multi-media sport service are also essential.
In addition, you’ll have excellent communication skills. Knowledge of diverse sports and communities is also advantageous.
