The role: Central to our success is the recruitment of a Director of Policy and Research who will lead on policy and research work, ensuring that the organisation is at the cutting edge of debates in the UK and internationally on development, acting as a credible and influential force for change.

Operating a budget of up to £1m, you will have the opportunity to:
• Provide intellectual leadership to the organisation, and being a visible and respected external voice on our priorities
• Manage a growing Policy and Research Department, which is responsible for:
i) providing policy expertise on Save the Children's thematic priorities, especially child survival,
(ii) leading Save the Children's work on issues of economics, equity, governance and rights which cut across our theme
(iii) providing high quality expertise and capacity on primary and secondary research to the Advocacy Division and wider organisation;
• Lead on cross-division or cross-organisational projects
About you: 
We see you bringing to the role:
• Substantial experience of economic policy analysis, policy-making, and/or policy research and advocacy in relation to economic development or policy and/or policy reduction.
• A track record of team management and ability to lead projects from inception to completion;
• Strong strategic planning, prioritisation, and exclusion skills
• An ability to manage multiple objectives, competing demands and monitor progress and impact
• The ability to work across multiple teams in a collaborative, contributory manner
• Ideally a Masters or PhD in economics or similar
