Grants Manager European Huntington's Disease Network


To provide support and advice to the European Huntington's Disease Network (EHDN) clinical, research and operational membership with respect to potential and actual sources of funding. To identify, define and develop funding sources to support planned and existing activities as well as coordinate the development, writing and submission of grant proposals to third party entities and the delivery of funding body requirements for awarded grants.
  •     Maintain a thorough and up to date awareness of all potential Health Research funding sources that could be of relevance to the EHDN research community. This should include, but need be limited to, European Commission (DG Health & Consumer and FP7) based funding organisations.
  •     Guide the preparation and submission of EHDN research proposals in response to open calls
  •     Advise on appropriate funding application strategies, taking into account the EHDN mission, structure and principal activities.
  •     In conjunction with, and with support from, the EHDN Science Director, develop and maintain a thorough understanding of EHDN research activities and interests, which will enable an understanding of the concepts of any project or program for which funding is being sought.
  •     Where applicable, develop sufficient understanding and familiarity of funding organizations to enable and direct effective lobbying by relevant EHDN members in order to maintain appropriate influence over the content of funding calls.
  •     Review the budget of proposed project or program for which funding is sought and make recommendations to optimize its presentation to the relevant funding organization.
  •     Supporting project results dissemination and international networking
  •     A good command of the English language (written and spoken) and confidence in communicating with researchers, clinicians and administrators at all levels.
  •     Experience working within a Health Research funding organisation or extensive experience in successful Health Research funding applications is an advantage.
  •     A scientific or medical background, ideally educated to degree or PhD level.
  •     Excellent organisational skills.
  •     Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines for grant opportunities.
  •     Ability to take initiative and utilise innovative techniques and apply ingenuity in grant application preparation.
  •     Willingness to undertake pan-European travel.
  •     Willingness to work flexible hours according to the needs of any specific application or project.
  •     A willingness and ability to work independently within a pan-European network; home-based office work
€50,000 negotiable. Dependent on experience, education, past salary history
