Head of the Monetary and Economic Department


The Bank for International Settlements is a global forum for monetary and financial cooperation and a bank for central banks.
The BIS invites applications for the position of Economic Adviser and Head of the Monetary and Economic Department, a key appointment at the Bank’s executive level.
Leading 150 staff and reporting directly to the Bank’s General Manager, you will be responsible for implementing the Bank’s strategy to support global cooperation among central banks and supervisory authorities aimed at delivering monetary and financial stability. You will play a leading role in the Bank’s research and policy analysis and in communicating the Bank’s thinking to the outside world. As a member of the Executive Committee, you will also contribute to the general management of the BIS.
We would like to meet candidates holding a highly visible, senior position within the monetary and economic area of a central bank, international financial organisation or leading research institution. You will have a PhD in Economics or Finance and an outstanding track record in conducting high-quality, policy-oriented research on relevant issues, managing a large team, and communicating with high-level audiences and the media.
