Local Consultant and Project Coordinator - Making Access to Financial Services Possible (MAP)


The Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (Cenfri) is a non-profit think-tank based in Cape Town, South Africa that operates in collaboration with universities in the region. Cenfri's mission is to support financial sector development and financial inclusion through facilitating better regulation and market provision of financial services. It conducts research, provides advice, and develops capacity building programs for regulators, market players, and other parties operating in the low-income market.
Background
Cenfri and FinMark Trust in partnership with the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and the Livelihoods and Food Securities Trust (LIFT) will undertake a “Making Access to Financial Services Possible” (MAP) in Myanmar. MAP is a financial inclusion diagnostic that incorporates a comprehensive analysis of the demand, supply and regulatory environment, in order to identify barriers and opportunities to increased financial inclusion and coordinate stakeholders (government, private sector and donors) in practical actions.
About the Job: 
Cenfri is looking for a Local Consultant and Project Coordinator - Making Access to Financial Services Possible (MAP). S/he will assist the MAP team with the implementation of the project in Myanmar.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Setting up a series of meetings with key stakeholders;
  • Liaising with in-country service providers;
  • Providing inputs on specific components of the analysis.
Qualifications: 
  • College or University degree in Economics, Social Science, Public Administration, International Development, or other relevant field;
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of progressively responsible relevant experience;
  • Experience in project management is required with an excellent understanding of the financial services landscape in Myanmar;
  • Excellent computer literacy, including research skills;
  • Personal commitment, efficiency and flexibility, together with the ability to work both independently under minimum supervision and with large diverse project teams;
  • Excellent communication, written and verbal skills in English and other relevant local languages.
