Department

The Planning department is part of the Business, Finance and Technology Division within BBC Scotland. The Planning & Scheduling team support the all BBC Scotland staff and facilities. The Planners provide a single point of contact with BBC Scotland Production managing a variety of projects across acquisition and post production from planning to delivery while at the same time ensuring the efficient forward planning of BBC Scotland facilities and staff. The Planner will forge strong relationships with Production Managers, Production Executives, Craft Staff and the Television Operations team.

Role

You’ll support and advise programme makers and the Planning team and manage the operational aspect of programme delivery from start to finish. You’ll forward plan projects with, but not exclusively, Production Managers and Engineering Managers and ensure all BBC Scotland staff and facilities requirements are set up accurately on the Workplace Scheduling system. The Planner will also work closely with Production Managers within a defined genre to deliver programmes on time and within budget.

Requirements

You’ll have extensive experience working in a programme making environment with good general knowledge of programme making techniques and detailed knowledge of techniques related to the person’s area of responsibility. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products including excel and word, excellent communications skills and the ability to influence others as well as good team working skills are required for this post. Experience of using scheduling systems would be advantageous.
