Amazon Web Services EC2 Linux System Engineer
As a member of the AWS Operations Engineering team, you will be at the forefront of this transformational technology with interactions with leading companies in this space and engineers within Amazon developing the capability. You will be surrounded by people that are wickedly smart, passionate about cloud computing, and believe that world class support is critical to customer success. AWS Operations Engineering provides technical support to a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services. The team is a self standing P&L with the ability to drive both Free Cash Flow and world class customer experience. Our team of talented engineers is located in 2 countries around the world to provide support to our customers 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
We are seeking people with strong technical skill, particularly Systems Administrator working with Linux, Unix or Windows. You should also understand the advantages of working in a highly distributed virtual environment. Since we're working in the Cloud, you will need to be very comfortable with networking technologies including DNS, TCP/IP, SSL, DHCP and Load Balancing. Must have demonstrated proficiency in these areas:
* In-depth Linux experience, and using command line tools to troubleshoot problems on Linux systems.
* Experience troubleshooting networks and network based services (TCP/IP, Tcpdump/Wireshark, DNS, SSH, HTTP, Load balancing, Traceroute, Iperf).
* Solid understanding of virtualization, instances, and hypervisors.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
* Excellent oral and written communication
* Experience reaching out to internal and external customers and working with those customers in a effective and efficient manner.
* Strong customer focus
* Strong multi-tasking skills
* Self-starter who is excited about technology
* Open to working different shifts
Preferred Qualifications
* Relentless passion to follow up on all customer commitments and drive customer issues through to a resolution.
* Experience analyzing, troubleshooting, and providing solutions for technical issues
* Scripting/programming experience is a plus (Perl, Ruby, Bash, PHP, Expect, C, etc)
* Experience managing full application stacks from the OS up through custom applications
* Comfortable working with systems and development engineers to determine root cause and drive customer issues to resolution.
