The BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall is the largest classical music festival in the world comprising more than 150 concerts, talks, workshops and events between mid July and mid September at the Royal Albert Hall and elsewhere. Proms concerts are live on BBC Radio 3, many are televised and there is a strong online offering. The BBC Proms team and BBC Radio 3 work jointly under the direction of Roger Wright to create and stage the BBC Proms and all its associated activity. Radio 3 offers a wide range of music and cultural programming in order to engage and entertain its audience. Around its core proposition of classical music, its speech-based programming informs and educates the audience about music and culture. Jazz, world music, drama, the arts and ideas and religion.

Role

You'll work with the Events Coordinator to provide administrative support to the Concerts Department across the BBC Proms and the BBC Proms Plus Series, in the lead up to and during the Proms season (12 July – 7 September 2013). You'll assist the Concerts Department with a variety of practical arrangements for all Proms across the season. This includes collating, inputting and updating all staff rotas, parking details, maintaining the encore list and general office administration. Work is office based prior to the season, (Broadcasting House) then spread between two Proms offices used during the Proms season, Broadcasting House and the Royal Albert Hall (the Proms office at the RAH in use from 10th July). There will also be involvement on site at the Royal College of Music for Proms Plus duties and Cadogan Hall during the season, as well as other Events.

Requirements

You'll be passionate about live music and events and have experience of working under pressure in a team, with excellent communication and organisational skills. You will need to have a good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and an enthusiasm to work on a wide variety of tasks.  You may be required to work some weekends on events over the 8 weeks of the Proms season (mid July to mid September).
