Wine Marketing and Branding Specialist Moldova
Chemonics seeks a wine marketing and branding specialist for the ongoing, USAID-funded Competitiveness Enhancement and Enterprise Development project, Phase II, for a one-month assignment (two weeks in Moldova and two weeks offsite) between April and September 2013. The project enhances the ability of Moldovan enterprises to compete in the global market by growing and expanding key industries, including the wine industry, and to increase sales and investment.
The wine marketing and branding specialist will help support the development of a national wine brand based on quality, with strong country-of-origin features. We are seeking individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include:
- Conduct background research and analysis required to formulate recommendations concerning the brand's unique selling proposition and positioning statement
- Create a vision or framework for marketing and promoting Moldovan wine in domestic and international target markets
- Provide recommendations to the National Office of Wine and Vine and other key stakeholders concerning the industry's optimal unique selling proposition and positioning statement; optimal price positioning; and marketing and promotion framework (including probable competitive advantages and differentiating factors) that will be used to drive domestic sales and exports
- Provide essential input for creative or visual elements of the national wine brand
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field required
- Extensive senior-level experience in the wine business, especially international trade, sales and marketing, or both
- Knowledge of major European, U.S., and Chinese wine markets
- Knowledge of the Commonwealth of Independent States wine market is highly desirable
- Strong analytical skills, in areas such as business and economic research
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write logically and convincingly
- Ability to convincingly sell ideas to others
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well on a team
- Cultural sensitivity diplomacy, good judgment, and discretion
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Proficient English required; knowledge of Romanian and/or Russian preferred; knowledge of French desirable
