Head of Humanitarian Resilience and Response is a new position designed to contribute to a strategic shift and new ways of thinking in our global humanitarian response as well as our ability to support countries to be more resilient to disasters and recover from them. In this role you will lead UK humanitarian strategy and policy development as well as its implementation.
Taking responsibility for managing our funding relationships with major humanitarian funders you will represent ActionAid to them at the highest levels as well as act for us in key UK humanitarian debates. You will lead our engagement with ActionAid International’s Emergencies and Crises team working with them to provide direct support to country programmes as part of an agreed international response that builds quality programming. We will also look to you to build the technical expertise of our Humanitarian Resilience and Response Team as well as motivate staff to raise our profile on humanitarian issues and maximise our income potential.
With a record of successful fundraising coupled with expertise in developing and maintaining effective working partnerships with donors and other stakeholders at high level, you will have extensive senior level experience in the humanitarian sector. You will have a developed strong knowledge of the trends and practices in the sector and an in-depth understanding of the latest thinking in humanitarian resilience, response and recovery programming. With a willingness to innovate and influence humanitarian debates you will have a proven ability to influence and persuade at the highest levels and possess excellent all round communication skills. Adept at building high performing teams you thrive on leading and motivating others to deliver challenging and ambitious targets.
