For our Global Shark Strategy (GSS) team & Shark Park Big Win team, we are looking for a qualified:

Global Shark Park Strategy Co-ordinator

We are looking for a Global Shark Park Strategy Co-ordinator to provide expertise, analysis, coordination and facilitation in the implementation of the GSS, with focus on Marine Protected Areas (MPA’s) and the implementation of the shark by-catch mitigation strategies in Western Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC). Work will involve engagement with relevant WWF network programmes, staff and external stakeholders.

WWF South Pacific Programme Office, Suva, Fiji.

Main responsibilities:
  • Designs, develops and coordinates GSS strategy 1 delivery with the GSS Working Group, theShark Park Big Win Team and Steering Group;
  • Ensures effective financial planning, monitoring and financial compliance of all project related budgets with donors;
  • Responsible for delivery of results for GSS strategy 1 and shark park Big Win timeline according to agreed milestones and within budget;
  • Drives fundraising for the GSS strategy 1 and Shark Park Big Win and responsible for overall sufficiency of funds for GSS Strategy 1 and Shark Park Big Win;
  • Establishes and nurtures good relationship management with external partners to leverage success and outcomes for GSS Strategy 1 and Shark Park Big Win within delivery timelines;
  • Responsible for leading and coordinating the development of relevant GSS and Big Win Shark Park Position Papers and Statements and responsible for actively promoting and advocating these advocacy positions;
  • Coordinates and oversees a strategic Communications Plan for the GSS Strategy 1 and Shark Park Big Win to deliver on outcomes ;
  • Oversees the monitoring and reporting required of the GSS strategy 1 and Shark Park Big Win and leads analysis and reporting of impact, outreach and strategic partnership engagement to Global Species Manager – Sharks,the GSS Working Group and Big Win Steering Group;
  • Ensures compliance with WWF reporting, donor reporting performance, monitoring and review systems, including monthly reporting to Conservation Director and quarterly reporting to Shark Steering Group and leadership group.

What you need:

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
  • Qualifications and experience in Integrated Oceans Management, Marine Spatial Planning, Marine Protected Areas, or in the field of Sharks or Cetacean Management.
  • An energetic and well-rounded coordinator with at least three years communications/campaigning experience and large programme management;
  • Familiarity with communications and marketing approaches and tactics, the mobilisation of teams to deliver outcomes e.g. campaigns or similar target oriented activities with timelines;
  • Experience in facilitation skills, good record of strategic planning, team communications, engagement and writing skills especially public relations communications
  • Should be experienced in cross-cultural communication; or experience in working , leading and engaging with multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time and within budget;
  • Demonstrated leadership, team and innovation skills;
  • Knowledge of and experience with development and/or environment issues;
  • Proven track record in developing successful initiatives at scale (political, consumer or public);
  • Computer literacy required;
  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent required;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills required, including an excellent ability to coordinate multi-office (global), regional activities, and to work in a virtual team; must be patient, tenacious and able to work well under pressure;
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral;
  • Excellent command of English;
