The Role

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a government policy designed to increase the uptake of renewable technologies used for heating. This is a ground-breaking scheme that will help the UK reduce carbon emissions and hit its EU renewable energy targets. 
Ofgem plays a key role in the administration of the scheme. This will include the assessment of a large volume of applications to verify eligibility, authorising payments, and handling enquiries from current and potential participants.
 
The purpose of this role is to support the RHI Operations team on all issues related to administration of the RHI. The role focuses specificially on the following:
  • communicating with external current and potential participants of the RHI either by phone, email or mail to professionally respond to their enquiries.
In addition, there is scope to be involved in individual projects across the team.

Specific Minimum Qualifications and Expertise

Essential
  • 2 ‘A’ levels or equivalent professional qualification
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills paying particular attention to detail
  • IT literate in Microsoft Office, in particular with Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Demonstrable experience of working in an office environment with a good understanding of how office administration is produced and maintained
  • Proven experience of working well in a team
  • Proven ability to prioritise and organise in a dynamic environment
      Desirable
    • Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
    • Experience of working with bespoke IT systems
    • Science or engineering background

          Key Outputs and Deliverables

          • Check register calculations to ensure the correct tariff and payment has been calculated in the IT system
          • Develop a good understanding of the functionality of the bespoke RHI and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system used to support the RHI
          • Provide advice about the RHI to internal and external stakeholders
          • Work on ad-hoc projects and tasks as requested

          • Answering Telephone and Email enquiries
          • Ensuring accurate record-keeping
          • Maintaining professional communications with internal and external stakeholders
          • Managing e-mail accounts, CRM software, as required
