The Role

To assist with Ofgem E-Serve’s administration of renewable schemes on behalf of Government departments. The role focuses mainly on reviewing applications for accreditation, dealing with eligibility enquiries and assisting with the day to day running of the schemes we administer (primarily the Renewables Obligation scheme). In addition to this there is scope to be involved with other projects across the team.

Specific Minimum Qualifications and Expertise

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent - preferably in a science or engineering discipline
  • Excellent interpretation and analytical skills
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to work independently on projects and analysis
  • A strong ability to produce effective written summaries
  • Expertise of working with IT systems and numerical information
  • A knowledge of environmental issues and renewable energy is desirable

Key Information

Key Outputs and Deliverables

  • Make recommendations on the accreditation of renewable generating stations in accordance with the relevant legislation
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders as to the eligibility requirements of the schemes that the team administers
  • Assisting with the development and testing of changes made to the IT system used to administer the schemes
  • Reviewing and updating published guidance, statistical information and liaising with appropriate Government departments and stakeholders on such information

  • Policy managers, IT, legal and environmental policy
External
  • Domestic and commercial renewable generators, trade associations, fuel suppliers, other Government departments and technical consultants

Key Accountabilities

  • Reviewing applications for accreditation within the team’s KPI target
  • Presenting findings and analysis to work stream managers
  • Potential to line manage one member of staff
