UEBT Vacancy Announcement
The Union for Ethical BioTrade is a non-profit association that promotes the “Sourcing with Respect” of ingredients that come from biodiversity. Registered in Geneva, with offices in Amsterdam and Sao Paulo, UEBT manages the Ethical BioTrade standard and is member of the ISEAL Alliance. UEBT members are predominantly companies working in cosmetics, food or pharma. These companies commit to gradually ensuring that their sourcing practices promote the conservation of biodiversity, respect traditional knowledge and assure the equitable sharing of benefits all along the supply chain. Third party auditors periodically verify these commitments of UEBT members. UEBT undertakes market outreach activities to increase awareness on ethical sourcing of biodiversity and engage companies in this. 
For the Amsterdam office UEBT is looking for a

Communication Professional (80-100%)
As successful candidate you will join a small team of committed professionals. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day tasks related to internal and external communications of UEBT. This includes supporting UEBT outreach efforts with business-to-business communication materials. You will also develop promotional and technical communication materials for UEBT members and establish communications channels to disseminate such information. You support UEBT in promoting and organising outreach events and conferences, manage the design, printing and dissemination of documents, and maintain and improve the UEBT website. You will be working closely together with colleagues in Brazil and Europe and report to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
Implement and up-date the UEBT communication strategy
- Shape communication messages and approaches as UEBT evolves
- Maintain the UEBT web-site and drive the development of a new site
- Support the research and publication of the UEBT Biodiversity Barometer
- Support the organisation of outreach events (e.g. UEBT annual conference)
- Writing, lay-out, printing of reports, brochures, newsletters, videos
- Media outreach (prepare press releases, respond to media queries, liaise with PR consultants)
- Prepare periodic newsletters and mailings for UEBT members and other stakeholders
- Prepare presentations and other internal support tasks
- Up-date and maintain the UEBT contact database
Candidate requirements:
Proven track record in marketing and communications (minimum 2 years)
- English (near native) and Spanish (fluent)
- Strong writing skills, clear communicator
- Team player and ability to coordinate tasks with various professionals
- Proactive, hands-on, creative, open to stakeholder’s interest
- Organized, responsible and accurate
- Computer savvy (MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite)
- Willing to work in a small team and young dynamic organisation, on a variety of issues
- Interest, and preferably work experience, in sustainable development or international sustainability standards
- A degree in marketing, communications, sustainability or related fields would be an asset
Employment can be based upon 32 or 40 hours a week. The position is based in Amsterdam. We strongly prefer candidates who have a work & residency permit for the Netherlands. The initial contract is for 6 months, to be renewed in case the candidate functions well.
