Director, Evaluation, Learning and Strategy - The MasterCard Foundation

The MasterCard Foundation is an independent, global organization based in Toronto, Canada, with approximately $7 billion in assets. Through collaboration with partner organizations in 49 countries, mostly in Africa, it is creating opportunities for all people to learn and prosper. The Foundation's programs advance financial inclusion as well as youth education and employment. Established in 2006 through the generosity of MasterCard Worldwide when it became a public company, the Foundation is separate and independent from the company. Its policies, operations, and funding decisions are determined by its own Foundation Board of Directors and President and CEO.
This is an opportunity to report to the CEO, interact with the Board, and lead the Evaluation and Learning team. You will be making a vital contribution to this learning organization’s strategic direction. Your questions, analysis, synthesis, and recommendations will help demonstrate impact, shape program strategy, and influence and support the Foundation’s investment decisions. Your leadership will promote decision-making based on evaluative and reflective thinking throughout the organization. Working closely with the Director, Communications, you will share findings externally, benefiting program partners, advancing the state of knowledge in the field of international development, and further developing the Foundation’s international reputation as a thought leader.
You have applied your education and experience in a consulting, strategy development, or evaluation role in a global private, public, or non-profit sector organization. Analytical and open to multiple methods of evaluating and assessing, you have the ability to ask the right questions, mine organizational knowledge, and recommend the best evidence-based strategies for moving forward. Collaborate with program leaders and partners in the field, encouraging the debate and discussion that lead to fresh approaches. Influence thinking and action in the fields of youth learning and financial inclusion by sharing knowledge with evaluators and other experts at sector conferences. With your thirst for real inquiry and desire to understand how things work, you can make a real difference in the world.
