Governance and Program Quality Advisor for AA Myanmar

ActionAid Myanmar is looking for an academic professional with strong skills in governance and accountability to support ActionAid staff, partner organisations and supported communities in their efforts to enhance the democratic processes taking place in Myanmar at the moment.
The Governance and Program Quality Advisor is placed through the People4Change program; which is a people-to-people support programme providing capacity development support to ActionAid and her partner organisations.

Job tasks include:• Support in establishing inclusive community area platforms and support the communities to take collective action at the township, regional and national level
• Support bottom-up, people-led planning processes
• Support in developing and contextualizing training manuals and tools ( such as social audits, public hearings) to promote active citizenship as well as just and accountable governance
• Conduct research to provide strong evidence base for promoting pro-poor accountable governance and public services.

Required qualification• Post graduate degree within relevant field (governance, development studies)
• At least 5 years of management experience in an multicultural work environment
• At least 3 years of post-graduate work experience with governance related  work
• Sound knowledge on program quality management
• Work experience from non-profit organisations
• Training and facilitation skills
• Ability  to facilitate and guide processes without taking the lead
• Cultural sensitivity
• English proficiency

August 1-4th:      First round of phone/SKYPE interviews with shortlisted candidates.
August 16-19th: Personality Assessment feedback via phone/SKYPE
August 21-23rd:   Face-to-Face interviews of the final two candidates at in Yangon

Starting date: October 1st  2013
Contract start is subject to approval of work and residence permit. The assignment is for 24 months, with the possibility for renewal. The Advisor is expected to participate in a face-to-face Human Rights Based Approach training in Tanzania in November; therefore the starting date is non-negotiable beyond November 1st.
