Grants Manager – South Africa

We are currently looking for Senior Grants Manager who will be responsible for the development, negotiation/review, compliance assurance, and records management of grant agreements. S/he will be responsible for the following:
  • Provide overall leadership and technical assistance for grant awards and grants management programs while ensuring compliance with USG rules and regulations.
  • Manage the program grant-making process, including issuance of request for applications and annual program statements, review of applications, negotiations with applicants, selection of grantees, and close out of completed grants.
  • Manage the issuance of Letters of Authorization and execution of Grant Agreements with grant winners, serve as the program’s main point of contact with applicants and grantees, conduct due diligence review of grant recipient invoices and support the identification of training needs to grant recipients in financial accounting and reporting in accordance with USAID and collaborate with the technical staff to monitor grantee technical and financial performance.
  • Conduct monitoring visits to selected grantees for compliance to USG rules and regulations and fulfilment of the approved work plan and monitoring and evaluation requirements and, as appropriate, audit agreed-upon procedures.
  • Supports all contract matters for the Finance and Budget Operations Director and Chief of Party for the program in South Africa; serving as the liaison to contracting officials in both client and partner organizations.
Experience required:
  • Advanced degree in business management, finance, accounting, or other related discipline.
  • Five to ten years’ experience in government contracting, including support to or working with at least one of the following organizations: US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, US Agency for International Development, UK Dept. for International Development, European Union Development Programs
  • Practical certifications and demonstrated training desirable (e.g. CFCM, NCMA, InsideNGO)
  • Demonstrated experience applying FAR , AIDAR and CFR
  • Contract negotiating skills
  • Strong communication skills, strong interpersonal skills.
