Emergency Response Syria Project Manager

In the end of April 2013, CBM’s Emergency Response Unit conducted an assessment visit in Jordan to look at gaps in terms of services for Syrian refugees with disabilities both within refugee camps and in host communities in Jordan. The following project have been set up in line with the recommendations of the assessment visit: Provision of specialised services for persons with sensory and intellectual disabilities within Al Zaatari camp, Al Mafraq, Jordan, in partnership with Holyland institute for the deaf (HLID).
The project is planned for a period of nine months starting 1st August 2013 is financially supported by CBM and institutional donor.

Syria Emergency Response Project Manager
Location: Amman, Jordan
Contract Duration: 9 months
Contract Start: 01.08.2013 – 30.04.2014
Objective: The post holder is responsible for monitoring and accompanying Holyland Institute for Deaf/CBR Network for the implementation of the project “Provision of specialized services for persons with sensory and intellectual disabilities within Al Zaatari camp” and reports to the CBM Emergency Response Unit Program Manager.
Main Tasks:
•Monitor and support the implementation of all the project activities and accompany the project partner Holyland Institute for Deaf/CBR Network (HLID) in the implementation of projects as per agreed project plan of action, budget and partnership agreements
•Support the partner in coordination meetings to ensure that the project activities are well understood and that a coordination sytem exists
•Support the partner in setting up referral system with medical agencies and other agencies working in Al Zaatari camp
•Compile project reports submitted by the partners, review them, provide appropriate feedback to partners and be responsible for converting these reports into donor reports as per donor requirement and deadlines
•Support partners in the financial management of (expense forecast, follow up of expenditure every two weeks and request for budget adjustments if need be)
•Represent CBM, along with HLID/CBR network in all NGO coordination meeting at Al Zaatari camp and at Amman level depending on the time availability to raise the issue of disability inclusion in basic relief services within camp and in host community
Professional Profile and Requirements
•Very strong project management skills and good understanding of disability issues particularly in the context of humanitarian situation
•Minimum of two years work experience in humanitarian aid and /or development sector with an international organization Proven track record in project management with good reporting skills
•Proven ability to work with local partner organizations and manage expectations
•Excellent oral and written English
