Monitoring and Evaluation Officer , Tea Research Institute of Tanzania

The Tea Research Institute of Tanzania (TRIT) was established in 1996 as an autonomous organization representing the Government of Tanzania and the tea industry. Its duty is to support the continued development of the tea industry, both large and small scale producers, with appropriate high quality, cost effective research and technology transfer. It is funded by both public and private and by grant aid from willing donors. TRIT invites suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the following vacant positions,
The candidate is required to provide support in development of a solid Monitoring and Evaluation system for a donor funded project capable of capturing of impact oriented information focusing on achievement of the intended project results:
Qualification
Master's Degree in any of the following areas; development studies, rural development, agricultural economics, Social Sciences or Statistical Studies
Experience:
A minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible professional working experience in the area of monitoring and evaluation; Working with learning and capacity development initiatives, preferably in rural based development project;
Experience of working in the field of reporting and monitoring to include experience in developing plans, tracking results, reporting to different constituencies. Monitoring experience in the project context is highly desirable;
Experience in results-based management (RBM) is desirable; Excellent computer information systems Skills.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Contribute to planning and conducting a baseline studies to identify the situation at the beginning of the project;
Develop a comprehensive Monitoring and Evaluation plan outlining the overall project Monitoring and Evaluation strategy in the light of results Resources Framework; including efficient and effective data collection tools and data sources, both qualitative and quantitative.
Develop a periodic evaluation and review plan for all four project results/components as required; also, in coordination with the project results/components coordinators, come up with a plan for research and knowledge products development;
Contribute in the revision of the project Results and Resources Framework to ensure effective Monitoring and Evaluation of the project activities;
Conduct periodic review of different Monitoring and Evaluation plans and  make adjustments a required;
Support in ensuring the TRIT Monitoring and Evaluation system is Gender-responsive.
Duration
Two years renewable contract.

Duty Station
TRIT operates at two locations: Ngwazi Tea Research Station, MafingaMufindi District, Iringa Region on the shores of the scenic lake Ngwazi and Marikitanda Tea Research Station located near Amani inMuheza District, Tanga Region. TRIT also has an Extension Services Unit based in Tukuyu andLupembe in Rungwe and Njombe Districts respectively.
