Resource Development Officer

Free Press Unlimited works to ensure that objective news coverage and information are and remain available to people the world over. Particularly in countries where there is little to no press freedom.
Across the globe, journalists and media pioneers have taken it on themselves to supply their communities with objective information. Free Press Unlimited actively supports these professionals in over forty countries, by offering them, among other things, trainings and temporary financial and material support, and by strengthening their professional capacity. So that as many people as possible gain and keep access to truly vital information
We are currently seeking to hire a Resource Development Officer to implement and support the Resource Development department within Free Press Unlimited. The Resource Development Officer reports to the Resource Development Coordinator.
Core activities include:
- Maintain database of potential funders, globally, per subject and per country/region;
- Monitoring funding opportunities, including automatizing information gathering on calls for proposals to degree possible;
- Forward relevant calls to teams as appropriate by country and/or subject matter including basic summary of objective, funding amount, requirements and deadline;
- Compile questions on calls and solicit clarifications;
- Prepare annotated deconstruction of requirements and criteria, including assigned points and weight along with initial proposal outline with reference to/guidance on criteria and points;
- With Resource Development Coordinator and proposal lead, establish chart with roles, responsibilities and deadlines for each team member. Keep track of deadlines to ensure they remain on target;
- Establish check-list of requirements and work with proposal lead to ensure all requirements are met;
- Complete initial draft of all standard forms, documentation, annexes and related requirements. Coordinate with proposal lead to ensure that all information is accurate;
- Work with Quality and Knowledge Coordinator to draft and regularly update standard language as it relates to common requirements, such as relevance, gender, innovation, best practices, sustainability and track record;
- Facilitate communication with Financial Department to ensure that budgets appropriately reflect activities and requirements;
- Maintain master list of submissions and status
We’re looking for an energetic and driven individual with the following qualifications:
- At least three years experience with proposal writing, donor relations, fund raising or similar field;
- At least three years experience with non-profit/non-governmental organisations. Experience with international development, media, civil society and/or human rights a plus. Interest in international affairs required;
- Sharp attention to accuracy and detail;
- Highly organised with ability to prioritize and multi-task;
- Understanding of excel sheets and databases;
- Strong writing, editing and research skills required;
- Native or near-native English proficiency required. Arabic, French or other relevant languages a plus;
- Academic degree in relevant field preferred.
