Microfinance Partnership Manager

About the Organization: 
One Acre Fund is a nonprofit organization started in January 2006 with the goal of completely rethinking how to solve the chronic hunger problem in Africa. It has put together an investment package for small-scale farmers and their families, which doubles farm income by providing seeds and fertilizer, weekly farm education, and market access.
About the Job: 
One Acre Fund is seeking a Microfinance Partnership Manager. S/he will help to build an association of organizations with experience in agricultural microfinance, and will then help to lead the emerging agricultural microfinance movement.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Build meaningful and genuine one-on-one relationships with worldwide microfinance leaders;
  • Travel frequently within East and West Africa in particular;
  • Leverage One Acre Fund's existing relationships to discover new relationships;
  • Build relationships with some of the most effective organizations in the world;
  • Help to build the overall agricultural finance movement;
  • Promote core principles of One Acre Fund (e.g. asset finance, training, retail of seed and fertilizer);
  • Potentially, play a role in helping to consolidate an industry association;
  • Initiate a targeted number of partnerships over several years;
  • Working closely with operating staff, help to determine partnership strategy;
  • Write MOUs and take the lead on communicating with the partner;
  • Continue to be involved strategically, after One Acre Fund staffs an internal operations staff to the partnership.
Qualifications: 
  • Past operating experience as a top leader in an MFI;
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing relationships;
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills;
  • Ability to travel extensively, up to 30% within Africa and other international destinations;
  • Deep and genuine commitment to serving the poor;
  • Passion for One Acre Fund’s program;
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
