Export Development Canada (EDC), a federal Crown corporation and Canada’s premier provider of export financing, insurance and risk management solutions, is seeking a new President and Chief Executive Officer.

Based in Ottawa and reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO will provide executive leadership in championing EDC’s evolving domestic and international role as a leading trade facilitator, working to support and develop the capacity of more than 7,400 Canadian exporters and investors in responding to international business opportunities in up to 200 markets worldwide.

Providing guidance and leadership to an eight person executive team for this 1250 employee organization, the President and CEO will combine a passion and focus for business with outstanding management and strategic leadership skills, ensuring the fulfillment of EDC’s mandate and the management of its assets.

A dynamic and visionary senior executive with the presence and proven experience in leading large, complex organizations, the President and CEO will bring knowledge of the Government of Canada’s economic agenda to address trade issues and enhance Canada’s competitive position abroad. A superior communicator with a strong customer orientation, he or she will have built successful and positive relationships with diverse stakeholders and senior officials, preferably across industry and government. The successful candidate will have a university degree in a relevant discipline or an acceptable combination of equivalent education, job-related training and/or experience. He/she will bring knowledge of the issues and challenges related to the globalization of trade, and the financial disciplines associated with the development and management of export insurance and financing instruments. Proficiency in both of Canada’s official languages is preferred.

Tout en offrant l’encadrement et le leadership à l’équipe de direction de huit personnes parmi une organisation de 1250 employés, le président et premier dirigeant combinera une passion et un intérêt pour les affaires avec des aptitudes remarquables en gestion et en leadership stratégique, et assurera l’exécution du mandat d’EDC et la gestion de ses actifs.

Cadre supérieur dynamique et visionnaire ayant une présence et une expérience reconnue à la direction de grandes organisations complexes, le président et premier dirigeant aura des connaissances du programme économique du gouvernement du Canada afin de régler les problèmes commerciaux et d’améliorer la position concurrentielle du Canada à l’étranger. Excellent communicateur fortement axé sur le consommateur, il aura établi des relations positives avec divers intervenants et cadres supérieurs, de préférence de l’industrie et du gouvernement. Le candidat retenu devra avoir un diplôme universitaire dans un domaine pertinent ou une combinaison acceptable d’études équivalent, de formation professionnelle et/ou d’expérience. Il aura des connaissances sur les enjeux et les défis liés à la mondialisation du commerce, et des disciplines financières associées à la conception et à la gestion d’instruments d’assurance et de financement des exportations. La maîtrise des deux langues officielles du Canada est préférée.
