The Position

Finance Manager – Pharma Finance Development (PFD), South San Francisco
Description:The Pharma Finance Development group has ~ 45 people in multiple locations around the globe.  It is a cross-functional, cross-cultural group that supports the Roche Product Development organization.  This role is based in South San Francisco and reports directly to the Principal Finance Manager of SSF Pharma Finance Development.

The Finance Manager is responsible for providing financial management and decision support to the Product Development organization.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and deliver PFD SSF planning processes, including month end close, forecasting, and budgeting.
  • Provide local financial controlling support to several functions within Product Development
  • Provide global controlling support in collaboration with global functional controller
  • Partner with the Financial Planning Systems team to coordinate planning processes within financial systems, while continuously seeking system enhancements.
  • Act as internal consultant by providing financial consultation and guidance to business partners as needed; support business in understanding state of finances and actions required to achieve business objectives
  • Provide support for all budgets & forecasts for respective local and global functions supported throughout the year
  • Prepare and present monthly financial results to functional leadership
  • Collaborate with Global Controllers, Life Cycle Controllers and Global Development Heads on cross-functional projects and to ensure Product Developments meets its business objectives
  • Support ad hoc reporting requests from PFD Basel consolidation group and SSF Corporate finance teams.

Who you are:
  • 5-8 years of experience in Finance.  Experience in biotechnology/pharmaceuticals preferred. CPA a plus.
  • Proven customer service orientation and ability to drive change throughout an organization
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable with making presentations to executive leadership
  • Independent and pro-active self-starter who operates with a strong sense of ownership for projects and results
  • Demonstrated analytical acumen and advanced problem-solving skills
  • Track record of outstanding business partnership
  • Proven ability to collaborate across geographies and work in a fast-paced, cross-functional and cross-cultural environment
  • Experience with SAP R/3 4.7+, Essbase, Cognos, TM1
