The Position

The Group Product Manager will lead the Interactive Sales team of 5+, responsible for evangelizing the innovative use of tablet and touch interface technologies for use in the sales setting. The goal of the iSales team is to augment traditional conversations, leading to increased engagement & satisfaction. This includes the strategic planning, development and operational management of marketing platforms delivered on mobile and tablet devices, such as the iPad.
Interactive Marketing Portfolio is part of the Interactive Marketing Department. The GPM for this team will report directly into the Associate Director of IM Portfolio, will manage four (or more) direct reports, and is responsible for:
• Collaborating with functional partners including brand marketing, field sales, training, and IT to maintain & enhance a vision for field digital platforms and drive a paradigm shift in traditional detailing (selling) models
• Maintaining & revising short term and long term roadmaps for the use of iPads by Genentech field-based personnel in selling or educational situations
• Developing and managing (and hiring as necessary) a high performing team that will provide the technical knowledge, mobile experience, brand and portfolio marketing understanding and innovative strategy imperative for success
• Maintaining operational oversight of the team, partners and agencies in order to integrate with key internal systems, develop, test and optimize digital field platforms
• Leveraging emerging technologies, evolving concepts in usability design and employing advanced reporting capabilities to meet the customer, field and Commercial needs
• Creating and finalizing guidelines, policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enable effective and efficient development and management of field digital platforms.
• Overseeing relevant mobility committees, including but not limited to the iDetail Functionality Review Committee, the iDetail Governance and Roadmap Committees, the Mobility Ecosystem Committee, and the iPad Field Advisory Board.
• Executing upon and updating an effective communication plan to provide relevant updates, best practices and guidelines to all cross-functional partners; Frequently providing the organization with the latest research, insights, partner agency recommendations and breaking news with the ultimate goal of ensuring Genentech continually maximizes the creative and interactive capabilities of the iOS mobile platform
• Ensuring accuracy in budget planning, forecasting and management – both for indirect expenditures and for external department expenditures related to tablet programs
• Ensuring the team and all partner agencies act within compliance of all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.
• Collaborating with the eMarketing and Interactive Marketing leadership team to evolve and align the strategy, goals and KPIs across Interactive Marketing
• Coordinating with the eMarketing team and developing a collaboration strategy between the two groups

• Minimum of 2 years experience working with mobile platforms, application development and mobile marketing programs – in particular, with iOS hardware and software
• Experienced in mobile user experience and instructional design
• Understands the professional selling model, communication objectives, compliance requirements and the process for developing material to support the sales cycle including design, testing, development, approval and training.
• 2 years or more of actual sales experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare industries is a plus.
• Demonstrable track record of creating innovative marketing strategies for products in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or other related industries
• Demonstrated ability to successfully coach, manage and inspire others. Specific experience managing direct reports, performance management and hiring is a major plus.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills. Comfort with meeting and presenting to Senior/Executive Management. Proven ability to develop alliances and relationships that contribute to the department's success.
• Demonstrated experience developing others and ensuring team success by contributing to team best practices, guidelines, and process improvements.
• Strong customer orientation and focus
• Ability to identify specific areas for change, efficiency and innovation, including those that challenge the status quo. Ability to identify emerging trends that may have applicability to our business.
• Demonstrable abilities to manage more complex brand marketing responsibilities, to include integration across multiple areas, events and activities
• Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding qualitative, as well as any quantitative, targets and goals
• Ability to create and perform more detailed and sophisticated financial modeling. Experience managing budgets in excess of $5MM
• Ability, comfort and commitment in/to operating in a highly regulated environment and industry, which requires understanding of the imperative for compliance with company policies, procedures and other relevant internal and external laws, regulations and standards
• Bachelors Degree
• MBA or other related graduate-level degree is preferred
• Impeccable ethics and integrity
• Minimum of 4 years previous work experience in digital marketing, learning technologies or in product/brand marketing that included direct accountability for digital/tablet strategy and tactical execution.
