LNG Optimisation Analyst
The Organisation
Global Energy Marketing and Shipping (GEMS) develops and implements BG Group’s strategy for the marketing and optimisation of all commodity streams, connecting competitively priced resources to high-value markets.
Position Summary
This position assists the LNG traders by providing economics for cargo diversions, considering the physical and financial impact on the LNG portfolio.
Responsible for implementation of optimal cargo schedule – must coordinate activities between LNG Supply and Sales Contract Managers, Vessel Coordinators, Marine Assurance and LNG Chartering team.

This position could be based in either Reading, UK or Singapore.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide physical LNG Traders with economics for all new cargo transactions considering the physical and financial impact on the LNG portfolio
- Use existing optimization tools to generate the economic value and optimal cargo allocation of LNG purchase and LNG sales for:
- All new cargo diversions
- Operational changes to existing schedule
- Changes due to commodity price movements
- Ensure that the optimal financial cargo allocation can be met physically, ensuring any additional costs or savings are included in the overall economics
- Communicate optimal cargo allocation changes with financial LNG traders to ensure hedges are re-aligned correctly
- Communicate optimal cargo allocation changes with LNG Contract Managers, Shipping, and LNG Chartering Team to ensure deliverability and implementation
- Maintain and transition the short term optimization model between the S&O teams in Reading, Houston and Singapore
Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Candidates should have:
- Masters Degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration or related field with component in Finance/ Financial risk management
Candidates should possess the following:
- Highly numerate and diligent
- Advanced modeling skills including Excel, with good knowledge of coding techniques
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic working environment
- Highly motivated self-starter and innovative problem solver
- Performs tasks and able to take decisions with minimum supervision
- Prior exposure to LNG/Oil & Gas industry advantageous
