Sanger Institute Fellowship AT Wellcome Trust

The Sanger Institute Fellowship provides an opportunity specifically for those who have had a break from research to return to high-quality postdoctoral training at a world-class research institute.
At the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute we are committed to enabling and opening routes back into science for those who have had a break from scientific research. We understand that even a short time out of research can have an impact on your career; we welcome applications from those who have been away from research for 12 months or more and who have at least one year postdoctoral experience.
One Sanger Institute Fellowship will be awarded in 2014, to start between late-October 2014 and early 2015. The Fellowship will be awarded after a competitive selection process, with applications being linked to specific projects defined by Faculty members at the Institute.
Each Fellowship will last for three years and can be worked full time, part time or flexibly. The Fellowship includes:
  • Research expenses (including consumables and travel costs for conferences and training courses)
  • Access to training and support resources at the Institute
  • Access to the University of Cambridge Careers Service
  • A research mentor based at the Sanger Institute
  • Generous benefits
Other information
The Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute is a charitably funded genomic research centre located in Hinxton, nine miles south of Cambridge. A leader in the Human Genome Project, we are now focused on understanding the role of genetics in health and disease. We aim to provide results that can be translated into diagnostics, treatments or therapies that reduce global health burdens.
The Genome Campus is a 100-acre estate nestled in the quiet countryside south of Cambridge and enjoys the landscaped gardens within the grounds of Hinxton Hall. In addition to its peaceful location the campus offers excellent facilities including a start of the art data centre, gym, two cafes, a nursery, dining facilities, a cycle to work scheme, car sharing and free campus buses from various locations around Cambridge.
