Associate General Counsel (Bratislava, Slovakia)

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented professional for the role of ASSOCIATE GENERAL COUNSEL (EUROPE/CENTRAL ASIA). This individual will be responsible for providing wide-ranging legal guidance to Habitat's offices in the region. This position will be based in Bratislava, Slovakia.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Provide legal counsel to Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) in the Europe Central Asia Area, encompassing approximately 20 countries, on matters relating to compliance, controls, and best practices for HFHI’s operations in the Area. • Provide legal support and reviews for Habitat regional office activities including donor countracts, lease agreements, vendor agreements, loan agreements, grant agreeements, licencing, MOUs, brand and logo protection, and other legal work as required. • Communication, interpretation, and guidance in establishment and practice of HFHI policies. • Cooperate with and assist the Area Vice President and the Area Management Team in providing legal counsel to National Organizations, HFHI representative offices, and other Habitat of for Humanity entities. • Cross-functional relationship and close liaison with the Legal Department at headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, U.S.A. • Support Area staff and Headquarters in structure and monitoring of financing and lending programs. • Coordinate with other Areas and legal staff to generate worldwide legal processes to support Habitat for Humanity’s global mission. • Work with outside counsel, insurance companies and government agencies to manage HFHI's international risk management and insurance program. • Work with affiliated organizations of HFHI in the Area to provide legal resources and education. • Provide support for regional and global Habitat advocacy and policy work including human rights framework. • Manage enterprise risk management and compliance in the Europe, Central Asia region.

REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:

• Master's Degree (J.D.), Bachelor's Degree (LL.B) or equivalent degree. • At least 10 years overall experience in the Legal profession. • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: general corporate, risk/litigation management, employment, real estate, or transactional matters. • Language skills in Russian strongly preferred. • Experience handling a wide range of legal matters and subject areas. • Ability to work well in team environments with diverse and often cross-disciplinary stakeholders. • Previous non-profit / NGO experience prefferred.
