The successful candidate must be in possession of a B Pharm degree and be currently registered with the SA Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacist. Knowledge of and insight into relevant legislation and computer literacy in Microsoft Office products and Retail Pharmacy Software are essential, along with excellent communication, problem-solving and above-average interpersonal skills in order to work within a multidisciplinary team. Further requirements include the ability to work independently and cope effectively under pressure as well as preparedness to work extended hours as deemed necessary by functional requirements and make after-hour calls as deemed necessary by the hospital and Pharmacy Department. He/
she must have his/her own transport, be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and be declared medically fit for the position and environment, as determined by a risk-based medical examination at the relevant Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre. At least 3 years’ experience in retail and hospital pharmacies would be advantageous.


Duties and responsibilities include: • Ensuring compliance with the legislation and guidelines of the Pharmacy Council • Planning, leading and organising communication and control • Monitoring drug usage and compliance with drug formulary • Providing a clinical service to hospital and clinics • Managing Pharmacy business, administration stock and projects • Assisting in training and educating staff members and registering with the SAPC as a tutor for interns/assistants • Supervision.
