Tajikistan Country Director

Country Director - Tajikistan $50,800 – $63,500 net per annum Dushanbe

The role Heading up our work in Tajikistan, which will extend to an approximate 35 strong team members and a budget of around £2 million, you’ll design and deliver a range of long-term programmes that make a positive difference to the lives of people across the region. Mobilising human and financial resources, you’ll focus on everything from the provision of food, clean water, and sustainable livelihoods to national level policy development activities. Specifically, we’ll look to you to manage budgets, ensure gender equality in everything we do, and take overall responsibility for the safety and security of our own people, as well as those we help. But there’s more to this role than simply responding to the immediate problems. As such, you’ll need to align each programme with Oxfam International’s wider strategic objectives and develop the relationships we share with donors, local partners, official authorities and other NGOs.

What we’re looking for This is a very high profile role in an economically fragile society, which is why we’ll be looking for extensive experience of programme development and management. A clear understanding of key national development issues and the humanitarian community is essential. From a practical standpoint, you must be adept at managing budgets, but just as importantly, you’ll know how to build your own leadership team and get the most out of people at every level. This is a complex role, which calls for a real strategic thinker - someone who can always see the bigger picture, but can translate this into local actions.

About Oxfam A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. It’s not their problem. It’s ours too. And with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
