Control Environmental Officer: Compliance and Enforcement Support
(Five-year contract)
Salary: R290 688 - R706 560 per annum (salary notch/package to be determined according to relevant experience) (Ref. OC 22/2011)
• V&A Waterfront, Cape Town

Requirements: • A recognised B degree or diploma in Environmental Management and/or Environmental Law • Experience in policy development and implementation • Knowledge of and experience in the implementation of legislation • Good communication skills (both verbal and report writing), with experience in stakeholder engagement • An understanding of and exposure to financial management and related legislation • Proven supervisory skills.

Duties: The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the compliance management and enforcement strategy for Integrated Coastal Management. He/she will: • Regulate the activities through implementation of current policies and legislation • Coordinate and facilitate compliance monitoring activities • Engage with stakeholders to ensure proper permitting of activities • Coordinate cooperative governance, enhance service delivery and stakeholder management and strengthen intergovernmental relations • Pursue effective communication with Government and stakeholders through relevant forums, working groups and committees.
