We have immediate openings for experienced Deputy News Editors for the Americas to work in our Washington DC Broadcast Centre. The Deputy News Editor/Assignment Editor for the Americas will be: Responsible for broadcasting news in line with the days news agenda Assist in preparing prospects for the day’s stories. Assist with managing the Newsdesk, working closely with the Programme Editors in deciding and driving the days editorial agenda Deputize for the News Editors in their absence. Assigning and liaising closely with teams in the field. Coordinating recorded and live material brought into the newsroom. Brief the Broadcast Centre coming on air next. Representing AJI in the field whilst covering stories Be aware of how a stories shape is affected by the different AJI programmes Get involved in a variety of other special one-off projects Take on other roles at short notice Recognize and shape stories which are in line with AJI News agenda Use Browse Edit to produce packages The right candidate must possess experience in managing a team of people working in a busy international newsroom. Ability to drive story ideas of international quality is a must and a minimum of 5 years in related TV news production experience is desired. Spanish lanuage proficiency is desirable.
