Responsibilities
  • To participate in regular and structured consultations with the Heads of Policy & Education and Terrestrial Conservation to ensure alignment of strategies and work plans with marine conservation programmes. A preliminary output of these consultations is a needs assessment where opportunities for better alignment and support across the programmes can be clearly identified.
  • To coordinate engagement with the WWF Network on Global Programme Frame-work priorities and Network Initiatives to ensure in country delivery of aligned strategies and programmes.
  • To report to the Network, through the Conservation Director against relevant conservation KPIs.
  • Based on the Monitoring and Evaluation framework developed for the marine programmes, to submit Monitoring and Evaluation reports routinely to the Conservation Director evaluated against useful KPIs developed for the marine programmes.
  • To drive fundraising efforts for marine programmes across the WWF Network, by realizing corporate support opportunities (keeping in mind practice based business and industry engagement) and from internal unrestricted funds.


Requirements
  • University degree, preferably a higher degree, in natural or social science. A degree related to the marine sciences such as marine biology, oceanography, coastal and marine resource management would be a distinct advantage.
  • At least ten (10) years of professional experience, including direct experience of biological or environmental fieldwork. Experience of policy work would be an advantage.
  • First class knowledge and commitment on the issues of conservation in Malaysia.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English. Able to converse in Bahasa Malaysia is a requirement.
  • Must be computer literate and have the ability to use appropriate technology for presentation to partners, stakeholders and potential donors.
  • Excellent leadership, diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
  • Substantial experience of working with government and corporate bodies.
  • A mature individual with substantial experience of working with government and corporate bodies.
  • Having a calm temperament, with a methodical and meticulous approach to work.
  • Good interpersonal skills, innovative thinking, versatile ability to work in a team and work independently.
