Internship Opportunity

at the World Peace Academy - Swiss Centre for Peace Studies Location: Basel, Switzerland

The World Peace Academy is searching for an intern to work as part of our team.

The one-year period internship is voluntary (unpaid) and the working hours can be discussed upon agreement. The WPA offers accomodation in its own student house, located at a 3-minute walk from our office. Meals are to be taken care of by the intern, but the travelling costs can be discussed.

The work of the interns is supervised; however, interns are expected to work independently and use their own initiative.

The World Peace Academy MAS study program is part of the Advanced Study Centre of the University of Basel and is focused in Peace and Conflict Transformation. The program lasts 9 months and hosts students from all over the world. Therefore, we search for someone who is attracted to work in a multicultural environment and can also benefit from this experience.

Among the responsibilities of the intern, we list:

  • Running the social media channels and posting information on the WPA;

  • Updating the WPA website and intranet (schedule, reading material, information,...)

  • Assisting the Director of Studies in administrative tasks;

  • Assisting with the organization of the study center;

  • Other tasks according to the personal qualifications of the intern.

    In return for the dedication and good work of the intern, the WPA offers the possibility to participate in some of the weekly courses that are part of the program, as well as the opportunity to attend the weekly seminars offered by the Academy.

    Requirements:

  • Fluency in English. The working language of the WPA is English. A very good level of both written and spoken English is required;

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel);

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently and using own initative and manage own workload;

  • Being a citizen from an EU country or Switzerland. Unfortunately, citizens from countries outside of these areas are not allowed to work voluntarily in Switzerland;

    Desirable Skills:

  • A good knowledge of German is an additional asset. Basel is a german-speaking city.
