International Programme Coordinator (m/v)

Women's Economic and Political Empowerment

32 - 40 hours per week

Based in: Utrecht, the Netherlands

WECF - Women in Europe for a Common Future is an international network of over a 120 organizations working in 40 countries worldwide. WECF focuses on promoting a healthy environment for all, strengthening the role of women in sustainable development at local, regional, national and international level. Focus areas for WECF are Energy and Climate Change, Water and Sanitation, Chemicals and Health and Sustainable Agriculture. WECF was created as a result of the Rio 1992 Earth Summit, to give the women's major group a voice in sustainable development policies locally and globally. Historically WECF's local projects focused on countries in Europe, Balkan, Caucasus, Central Asia and in Afghanistan, but more recently activities have moved to countries worldwide. WECF works with mixed teams (M/F) and has offices in the Netherlands, Germany and France, and several field offices.

WECF is looking for a programme coordinator (M/F) for its "Empower Women - Benefit All" (EWA) programme, EWA aims at building the capacity of 50,000 women and men to increase their income as well as their access to basic needs. The local capacity building is flanked by a political advocacy programme for enabling policy measures at local national and international level. The programme will run from 2012 to 2015.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Ø Coordinate the implementation of the EWA programme including planning, contracting , monitoring, reporting and evaluation.

Ø Ensure good cooperation with local partners and other local stakeholders aiming at efficient and effective implementation of the program while at the same time creating a learning environment for all.

Ø Ensure that all staff involved work as a team, are motivated and deliver quality. Day-to- day supervision of the projects assistants and field staff involved in the programme. Working closely together with the thematic experts and other project coordinators to ensure an integrated approach.

Ø Draw policy lessons and provide input into policy processes, presenting recommendations to relevant decision makers in the area of development cooperation including the Dutch Government.

Ø Collaborate with researchers, technical experts, knowledge institutes and grass roots experts.

Ø Further enhance the concepts applied in the programme and investigate 'innovative' funding mechanisms for those concepts.

Ø Promote the EWA programme, concepts, and WECF in general, including via social- and mass media.

Ø Planning and Reporting, supervising the proper use of the budget allocated to the programme.

Functie-eisen

Profile

Ø University degree, preferably in the areas of economics, finance, sustainable development/environment or social/gender studies.

Ø At least 10 years of working experience, preferably a minimum of 6 years experience in development cooperation or similar activity

Ø Strong leadership skills, at least 5 years experience as a coordinator

Ø Strong communication, networking and lobbying skills. Preference goes to a candidate who already has a strong relevant network Internationally and in the Netherlands

Ø Knowledge in the areas of environment, gender, small scale economic development and micro-finance.

Ø Excellent communication and writing skills in Dutch and English. Russian is an advantage

Ø Flexible, willing to travel
