The Online Technology Group is the BBC’s engineering ‘centre of excellence’ within the Future Media division. The Frameworks team provides code to product teams across the BBC, including iPlayer and BBC News Online. We look after the PHP and Javascript layers, as well as systems for device detection, user login and analytics. As a Frameworks Junior Web Developer we’ll show you how bbc.co.uk really works, and give you the chance to write code that runs on every one of our pages.

Role

Build, test, document and maintain front- and back-end code for IP products.

Research and learn new skills.

Develop relationships with the developer community within and outside the BBC.

Requirements

A bright junior developer with a good understanding of web technology and a passion to learn, join our team to deepen your skills and help write the code that supports the BBC’s output on IP platforms.

Essential

· Deep hands-on experience of software development.

· Strong analytical and investigative ability.

· Effective team-working and communication skills.

· Experience of planning and organising your work.

Desirable

  • A 1st in Computer Science or other technical degree
  • A good understanding of front- and back-end web technology, including PHP/ Zend, JavaScript/ JQuery, XHTML/ CSS, Java, C.
