The School of Environmental and Rural Science seeks to appoint a full-time academic staff member (Lecturer Level B) in the area of Earth Sciences to undertake research and teaching in the field of Economic Geology.

The appointee will join a successful, enthusiastic and versatile team of geoscientists who teach and research across a range of areas including resource/economic geology, geochemistry, environmental geology, sedimentology, palaeontology and geophysics. UNE has a long history of teaching and research in Earth Science and is conveniently located in the heart of the New England Region, providing an excellent natural laboratory for studying all aspects of the discipline.

We are seeking an experienced geologist with a PhD that has research expertise in the fields of economic geology (especially ore deposits) and geochemistry to pursue a research program in his or her specialty area and attract competitive research grants. The successful applicant must also have experience in teaching at all undergraduate levels and will be expected to contribute to undergraduate teaching in introductory geology subjects, geological mapping, environmental geology and advanced subjects in resource geology and geochemistry, as well as supervise honours and postgraduate students. Desirable qualities of the successful candidate include: demonstrated links and experience in industry (mining and/or exploration); experience in teaching via distance education; and experience in curriculum development to help expand the Bachelor of GeoScience program at UNE.

Salary: A$77,416 to A$91,751per annum (Lecturer) plus 17% employer superannuation and optional salary packaging. A 15% market loading currently applies to this position. This loading is subject to review from time to time.
