Liberia Pediatrician

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Pediatrician or a Medical Doctor with a pediatric experience.

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, we restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. The IRC leads the way from harm to home.

IRC Liberia seeks an experienced pediatrician or clinician with established skill in the care of children to provide in-patient care and training to medical staff at Redemption Hospital, a major public hospital in Paynesville District outside of Monrovia, Liberia. Redemption has an 80 bed pediatric ward and admits over 700 patients a month to its inpatient pediatric ward, neonatal care unit or malnutrition service. IRC has supported Redemption for 18 months and will continue to augment the hospital’s capacity over the next one and a half years. Liberia has one of the highest childhood mortality rates in the world. Under-five mortality approaches 15%. This sobering statistic can be influenced.
