Libya Psychologist

Purpose of the position The Psychologist will provide psychosocial support to war wounded patients in Libya (Benghazi and Misrata Medical Center) through training and supervising national staff.

Responsibilities with the local psychologists to: 1. Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for all patients receiving physiotherapy treatment in the rehabilitation center; 2. Provide effective treatment and community based interventions according to the presenting problems identified by patients and in line with principles of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR); 3. Support patients, their family members, and other significant people in the individual's social/community circle through psychoeducation, community support services, and advocacy; 4. Mentor and assist in the implementation of confidential documentation of treatment records; 5. To efficiently and effectively facilitate the implementation of activities, and create a harmonized conducive work environment within the hospital, and with all relevant partners with ensured compliance with International Medical Corps rules and regulations; 6. Mentor and assist in the facilitation of regular supervision and training sessions provided by the International Medical Corps MHPSS team; 7. Establish supportive patient networks, including peer-to-peer support, and group psychoeducation and therapy; 8. Provide effective discharge planning and follow-up support for patients of the Rehab Center; 9. Assess and train local psychologist/social workers where necessary.

Person Specification-only candidates who fully meet the essential requirements should apply. Essential requirements: 1. Degree in Clinical Psychology or Education Psychology 2. Clinical rehabilitation psychotherapy work experience in public or private sector 3. Extensive knowledge on public mental health approach and prevention/promotion treatment and rehabilitation model in MHPSS 4. Fluency in English 5. Proficiency in Microsoft office software applications 6. Ability to work in multicultural and multidisciplinary settings, and commitment to humanitarian issues 7. Excellent communication 8. Training experience

Desirable requirements: 1. Experience of working with disabled people 2. Ability to speak Arabic 3. Personal qualities such as sense of initiative, strong work ethics, self confidence
