Livelihoods Program Manager…Is This You?

We are seeking a dynamic Livelihoods Program Manager to join our young, hard-working, international non-profit organization that provides relief to survivors of natural disasters. Joining our awesome team in Leogane, Haiti and reporting to the Project Director, you would have responsibility for overseeing the several projects within our Livelihoods program. Specific program responsibilities will be coupled with day-to-day staff and volunteer oversight in a complex and often chaotic environment.

WHAT YOU’D BE DOING:
General: • Managing the Livelihoods Program and team to ensure programmatic goals are achieved • Supporting the Project Director in creating a secure living and working environment that allows staff and volunteers to be a productive force in the field • Providing logistical support as needed for base and / or program issues • Forming part of the project’s leadership team, supporting the Project Director in determining and enforcing policies, practices, and disciplinary action. • Enforcing Project specific rules and organizational policies among staff and volunteers • Assisting in emergency situations to maintain safety and security for volunteers and staff.

Program Specific: • Coordinating All Hands Volunteers’ Livelihoods projects with emphasis on training Small and Medium Enterprises, youth, and women with the result of increased income and job creation. • Planning, implementing, and overseeing the expansion of the livelihoods program, focusing on income generation and job creation. • Developing target criteria and mechanisms to ensure the needs of identified vulnerable groups are met. • Monitoring programs, budgets and expenditures to ensure efficient and accountable use of funds. • Managing a team of national staff and international volunteers for program implementation and achievement of results. • Developing work plans, in conjunction with related program staff, for implementation of all related programs • Recruiting, training and supervising national staff to fulfill the requirements of the program and assist professional development. • Ensuring monitoring and evaluation of livelihood projects (field visits, regular program monitoring, staff evaluation and planning, donors reports, monthly reports, etc.). • Liaising with local authorities, target communities, research institutes, partner organizations, international and local NGOs, government bodies, UN agencies and clusters. • Providing the Project Director with reports and other communication on all major aspects of programming. • Other tasks as assigned by the Project Director.

WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE/BE: • University degree in socio-economic development, international development, or related field; postgraduate qualification preferred • Minimum of 2 years overseas experience working with an international humanitarian /development NGO livelihoods program. Practical field experience working in post-disaster context preferred. Prior experience working in Haiti is a plus • Strong program development, team management and financial management experience • Understanding of and commitment to the All Hands Volunteers model is essential • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to lead, influence and motivate others. • Awareness of cross-cutting issues such as gender equality and support of vulnerable populations • Politically and culturally sensitive, to work well with international and local partners in a diplomatic manner • flexible and willing to work under difficult work and living conditions, able to work independently, and carry out duties with oversight from afar • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; French and/or Haitian Creole preferred
