Job description:

The International Network for Bamboo and Rattan, INBAR, Latin America and the Caribbean office, implements development activities in member countries in the region with the support of local partners and international cooperation agencies. From this perspective, we seek a PROGRAM OFFICER for activities run in Latin America and the Caribbean, on issues related to the implementation of projects on adaptation to climate change and economic development.



Responsibilities:
Lead monitoring, evaluation and documentation processes of INBAR activities implemented in the region, in coordination with member countries and local partners in different locations. This includes programs, projects and various other activities related to the nature and mission of the organization.
Technical assistance to local partners for effective implementation of projects.
Support the effective use of project funds and counterpart funds, and seek new opportunities to generate initiatives and projects (fund raising).
Lead the monitoring, documentation and evaluation process of project and program activities.
Support the administrative and financial management of projects.
Organization of technical missions and exchange visits in the region.
Preparation of reports and other tasks assigned by the Regional Coordinator.


Profile:
Education Level: Academic degree in Forestry or Agronomy , with proven experience of at least three years of working in technical issues related to the production of bamboo.
Proven fluency in English, written and spoken
Proven experience of at least three years in the design, writing, negotiation and implementation of development projects
Proven ability and skill to negotiate with public and private sector
Basic knowledge of the bamboo sector in the region
Knowledge of regulations related to environment and climate change and its implementation in countries of the region (strategies, laws, regulations, institutions and markets)
Working experience with multidisciplinary teams, intercultural diversity, gender and political diversity.
Proven experience in preparing reports and technical publications
Competence in the use of database, Microsoft office and digital communication tools (email and internet)
Willingness to travel at least 60% of the time.


Personal qualities:


Analytical, leadership, planning and organization, pro-activity, teamwork, excellent technical writing and ability to do presentations to different user groups, excellent human relations skills.
