The successful candidate shall contribute to submergence and salinity activities of STRASA. He/ She will also contribute to the research activities in the elucidation of physiological mechanisms of tolerance for submergence and salinity to support the development of rice genotypes adapted to flood-prone lowlands and saline areas.

Major accountabilities/Responsibilities
• Assist in the design and implementation of laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments relevant to the identification of donors for developing superior rice genotypes for flood-prone areas and traits that confer tolerance; with emphasis on flooding and salt stress
• Coordinate with researchers, students and other IRS groups for effective planning and implementation of research activities
• Manage experimental data through statistical analyses, draft data summaries and highlights, and prepare figures and graphs for presentation in local and international meetings, and for reports and other publications
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisors relevant to the research objectives

Qualification requirements
• Bachelor Science degree in Agriculture or related field
• Good working knowledge on biochemistry, physiology and/or molecular biology techniques; preferably 2 years experience in development of simple analytical methods for laboratory analysis and set up of laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments
