Roving Financial Controller

The role As a member of the international programs finance team, you will: • assume the role of country finance manager / director for temporary periods, to cover resourcing gaps and ensure adequate financial management is maintained • line manage country finance and grants staff as required and as directed by the relevant country director • work alongside existing/ new country finance directors and their teams to build capacity, where a need has been identified • assist the financial capacity building manager in increasing financial management capacity via training, mentoring and other methods as required • assess the strength of country finance teams and work with the country director and regional finance staff to deliver improvements • support country offices where deployed in implementing internal audit recommendations

Required skills and experience • qualified finance professional (preferably ACA or CIMA) with experience of operating in a global and complex organisation • experience of working in an INGO finance role in developing countries required • ability to adapt quickly to a new environment and achieve results • strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mindsets • proven experience in capacity building • language skills an asset • highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching • highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures • willingness to undertake travel to country office for approximately 70% of the time • experience of working with financial management systems an asset (particularly Agresso) • commitment to Save the Children values
