Responsibilities
  • Ensure an integrated WWF’s Species Conservation Workplan i.e. complies and synchronise with other conservation plans (WWF-Malaysia’s Conservation plan, Network Initiatives and the Global Programme Framework.
  • Ensure Output Milestones/Programme Performance Report towards achieving outputs established under Sabah’s Terrestrial Species and Habitat Programme 2010-2015 are implemented by managers/senior programme officers in order to enhance the achievement of the conservation targets.
  • Ensure leadership and technical training programme for the units under Borneo Species Programme (BSP) and CGIS unit are evaluated, implemented and monitored to ensure the achievement of the conservation targets.
  • Ensure fundraising material or product is developed and could be used by other WWF network offices to support their fund raising programme.
  • Ensure efficient working relationships (focuses on species and habitat conservation issues) between WWF-Malaysia, WWF network, Government Departments (Sabah and Sarawak) and other working partners (private sector, stakeholders and other NGOs).
  • Ensure verified periodical Technical Progress Reports by the managers and senior programme officers (in BSP) are submitted on time as required by the network and donors.


Requirements
  • A postgraduate degree in any of the related fields (e.g. Zoology, Wildlife Biology, Conservation Biology, etc) from a recognised university.
  • At least eight (8) years experience, including direct experience of biological or environmental fieldwork, with the last 3 years as a senior supervisor. Experience of advocacy work would be an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge and commitment on the issues of wildlife conservation in Sabah, Sarawak and Kalimantan.
  • Excellent writing and speaking skills in English. Able to converse in Bahasa Malaysia is a requirement.
  • Must be computer literate and have the ability to use appropriate technology for presentation to partners, stakeholders and potential donors.
  • Excellent leadership, diplomatic and interpersonal skills.
  • Having a calm temperament, with a methodical and meticulous approach to work.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision, both in the field and in the office.
  • Organising and management skills are required.
