The Senior Clinical Training Advisor provides programmatic and technical leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of maternal health (MH), reproductive health and family planning (RH/FP) interventions including cervical cancer prevention (Cecap).

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as technical lead for assigned Maternal Health, Reproductive Health/Family Planning (RH/FP)and Cervical Cancer Prevention activities
  • Ensure that MH, RH/FP/Cecap issues are addressed in relevant national health policies, strategies, and operational plan
  • Ensure synergy and complementarity between Jhpiego’s MH, RH/FP and Cecap activities and other partners’ activities to the extent possible
  • Work closely with program and M&E teams, to ensure continuous monitoring and evaluation of programs and report findings
  • When appropriate, complete required data gathering and report writing on a timely basis
  • Communicate on a regular basis with Jhpiego’s RH/FP and Maternal Health teams, including the Technical Director for RH/FP and the Team Leader for Maternal Health at MCHIP, particularly on project successes, challenges, and best practices
  • Assist counterparts to identify barriers or gaps in program implementation and service delivery and work out solutions and guidelines to address them
  • Conduct or facilitate performance improvement activities including competency based clinical training, transfer of learning, supportive supervision and follow-up to support safety and access to high quality services
  • Write and/or review technical components of MH, RH/FP and Cecap materials and publications, as appropriate
  • Collaborate with other donor-funded individuals and programs to build capacity throughout the health system
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with colleagues and donors in country and region
Required Qualifications:
  • Physician or midwife with strong clinical and training background
  • Advanced degree in public health or equivalent
  • 10 + years’ experience in designing, implementing and managing MH, reproductive health/family planning (RH/FP) programs including CECAP is preferred
  • Comprehensive understanding of evidenced-based interventions in women’s health
  • In-depth understanding of issues in MH, family planning, reproductive health and cervical cancer prevention
  • Ability to work on a variety of projects concurrently in a fast-paced environment and with competing priorities
  • Field oriented and comfortable with carrying out an advisory /mentoring role
  • Excellent skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
  • Strong writing, and oral presentation skills
  • Awareness of, sensitivity to, and experience in working in multiple socio-economic settings and with multi-cultural staff and groups
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with counterparts in other agencies and organizations worldwide
  • Experience living or working in one or more low and middle income countries
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
