To provide technical/field support on seed multiplication activities and administrative/logistical support on networking/liaising activities with partner institutions and other stakeholders under the FSSSP project

Major accountabilities/Responsibilities

1. Coordination and general operations
• Assisting in facilitating the program of visit to IRRI facilities/field experiment of intermediaries and farmer groups from different regions/provinces in the Philippines
• Providing support on FSSP sponsored activities (training, workshop, conferences, meetings) held in IRRI and occasionally in different regions/provinces:
- Coordinating/arranging the schedule of resource persons (IRRI) during study-tour (lakbay-aral)/visits of farmers /farmers intermediaries to IRRI
- Requesting support from different units/centers in IRRI (Genebank, Phytotron, farm machinery, transport, security and food services) during provincial and regional training/workshops of different farmer intermediaries and farmer groups
- Assisting IRRI-TWT members in preparing the materials (quick-guides, CD-Video on rice LCCs, rice facts) to be used during provincial and regional technology updates/workshops
- Handling physical arrangement activities (venue, sound system, computer/PowerPoint) required or needed

2. Seed multiplication and distribution activities
• Assisting in the day to day operations and activities in the field and storage areas related to seed multiplication of newly-released high-yielding varieties (HYVs)
• Preparing materials for seeding (seed purity, checking labels and tags, etc.)
• Requesting materials to be used during storage of harvested materials (paper bags, hermetically-sealed plastic bags, jute sacks, etc.)
• Assisting in cleaning, sorting and packaging of harvested seeds for proper long-term storage
• Coordinating with Experiment Station (ES) operations staff fro different farm activities such as land preparation, seeding, transplanting, crop establishment (nutrient, water and pest management), harvesting, threshing, drying and storage
• Distributing, with proper documentation, the seeds to requesting farmers and collaborating institutions

3. Performing all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the NPR senior manager and supervising associate scientist

Qualification requirements
• At least three (3) years college education
• Two (2) years or more in networking/liaising and coordinating activities related to rice seed multiplication/dispersal training and general office procedure
• Familiarity with MS Office application programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Good interpersonal relationship and networking ability
• Strong organization and coordination abilities with effective time management and attention to details
