Women’s Health Focus Group Moderator, Islamabad and Charsadda, Pakistan

Project Summary:
In June 2011, MSI was awarded the Independent Monitoring and Evaluation Contract (IMEC). Under IMEC, MSI will support verification, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for USAID/Pakistan’s entire portfolio of projects. The goal is to assess whether USAID resources are well-spent and achieving desired results and to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse in the administration of programs, regardless of the implementation mechanism.

Position Summary: The Focus Group Moderator will be responsible for moderating three focus groups of approximately one-hour each with clients of family planning services, Lady Health Workers (LHWs), and Lady Health Visitors (LHVs) in and around Charsadda city. The Moderator will work with a health expert (provided by IMEC) who will provide sector expertise. The Moderator will attend a Team Planning Meeting with the research team in Islamabad prior to conducting the focus groups and then debrief the research team after the focus groups. IMEC will make all necessary travel arrangements. The assignment will last no more than three days and require travel to Islamabad and Charsadda. It is expected to begin by December 12th.

Responsibilities: • Meet with research team to discuss evaluation and focus group objectives. • Conduct three focus groups with local women. These focus groups will occur in one day of approximately one hour each in or around Charsadda city. • Debrief research team orally on focus group results.

Qualifications: • Extensive experience moderating focus groups. • Fluency in Pashtu and English required. • Experience in reproductive health or family planning a plus. • The focus groups will be with women so a female moderator is required. • Exhibit the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and impartiality.
