Our Americas and Global Liquefied Natural Gas (AGLNG) division has assets spanning a number of countries including Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Trinidad & Tobago and the USA. The division is a major global marketer of LNG. Whether it’s Energy Marketing, global shipping or world class exploration projects in Brazil, the AGLNG region underpins our goal of helping us to meet the growing demand for our world-class gas reserves. At the same time, this has to be done while firmly focused on improving safety performance and asset integrity.
Position Summary
Each LNG Trader has responsiblitity for their own geographic area and portfolio of LNG trading counterparties and aim to maximize the value of BG Group's portfolio of LNG supply contracts, LNG sales contracts, LNG shipping and LNG import terminal capacity positions.

This position reports to the Director of LNG Trading and main responsibilities will include:
  1. Understanding key markets dynamics.
  2. Developing strong relationships with counterparties.
  3. Identifying and originating most profitable deals.
  4. Negotiating spot and mid-term LNG transactions as well as Master Agreements.
  5. Collecting and sharing market intelligence and knowledge.
Key Accountabilities
  • Understand the commercial and physical aspects of allocated markets, drivers of demand, supply options and existing and projected infrastructure.
  • Develop strong and trustful relationships with allocated counterparties, establish a regular and quality dialogue with them to:
    • Understand what they need.
    • What they can offer.
    • Gain as much market intelligence as possible.
  • Anticipate market trends; recommend or contribute to the development of LNG pricing and trading strategies.
  • Understand BG’s LNG portfolio position, optionality and shipping position in order to prioritise and target the type of deals to be originated.
  • Identify and originate deal opportunities that can maximize profit, taking into account our portfolio structure and position.
  • Accurately assess potential risks, rewards and mitigations associated with potential transactions.
  • Negotiate and conclude deals in compliance with our business principles ; positively criticise deals originated by other traders.
  • Negotiate Master Agreements for LNG purchases and sales.
  • Share market information gathered within organisation.
  • Contribute to efficient and smooth communication between Houston, Singapore and TVP based team members.
  • Provide special reports and analysis to management as requested.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience required:
  • Extensive experience in the LNG or gas industry in positions involving contract negotiation or operations.
Knowledge required:
  • Knowledge of the global LNG business, gas markets and LNG players.
  • Degree in Technical, Commercial or Financial related field required.
  • Trading, analytical and risk management skills.

  • Need to be willing to work in other locations (e.g. Singapore), depending on the needs of the business.
  • Interaction with worldwide LNG customers and suppliers requiring extensive cultural sensitivity and awareness.
  • Involves extensive travel to all points of the globe requiring the ability to be away from home for long periods of time.
  • Requires willingness to be available and frequently work out of regular business hours when not traveling due to short term nature of the business, global responsibilities and time differences.
